Volunteers are an important part of the Africultures event. Volunteers help make sure the event runs smoothly and provide a range of tasks such as coordinating performers, supporting the stage MC, helping setup, supporting children’s activities and much more.
Anyone is welcome to become an Africultures volunteer! To register, fill out the below form. Applications close Friday 10 February 2016.
All volunteers will be required to attend an induction at the Auburn Centre for Community (44A Macquarie Rd, Auburn) on one of the following dates:
• 25 February, 5:30pm – 8:30pm
• 3 March, 10:00am – 1:00pm

Africulture Volunteer Positions
Promotions Assistant – starting 12 February 2016
Help with the distribution of flyers to locations across Sydney. Place brochures and posters in your local area: shopping centres, libraries, schools, cafes etc. On Festival day, sign up festival patrons to the Selam Africultures Newsletter.
Survey Assistant
Assist with evaluating the Africultures Festival by conducting random surveys of festival patrons. Volunteers will be required to roam the festival and approach people for feedback.
Event Festival Assistant
Help with set-up, pack-down, putting up and taking down event signage
Children’s Activities Assistant
Supervise activities games and crafts for kids. A Working with Children Check is required for volunteers
Stage Assistant
Assist the MCs, coordinate performers, make sure groups arrive on time, and ensure security of Back Stage area.
Information Tent Assistants
Take festival enquires and assist the general public where needed, to sell promotional products and t-shirts and be responsible for any money received, sign up patrons to the Selam Africultures Newsletter, to help manage all other volunteers – ensuring break relief, etc
Waste & Recycling Ninjas
Set Up Recycling Stations with bins and signage and maintain the inviting, friendly atmosphere of the Festival’s food precincts by ensuring all tables and chairs are kept clean and in good order.
Please note: While we try to assign volunteers to their preferred volunteer position, it isn’t always possible. You will always be informed beforehand of which volunteer role you have been assigned.
